Chapters: 8/8
Fandom: Teen Wolf (TV)

Summary:

“I’ve got a problem,” Derek says by way of greeting when he turns up without warning on the doorstep of his shitty campus apartment in Quantico. It's been almost a year since Stiles has seen Derek, but somehow he’s still not surprised to see him.

(I suck at titles and summaries).

Duty of the Living by Jilly James is a Teen Wolf story with a slight Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski pairing. It's getting there, and it's important, but it's not the main focus of the story. The main focus is on Stiles and his awakening to his destiny.

Author's summary: Stiles leaves Beacon Hills after the events with the kanima. It was supposed to be for a summer, giving him time to get some perspective, but perspective means that Stiles isn’t interested in going back. Not until he’s forced to.

(I finally got off my Avengers kick and fell headfirst into Teen Wolf, which I've avoided for the past decade. I blame Jilly James.)

The (Not So) Great Pretender by RayShipouUchiha is a hilarious Avengers (WinterIron) fic that goes AU when no one believes Tony when he states that he's Iron Man at the end of the first Iron Man movie.

Author's Summary:

“What,” Tony says softly but with a great depth of feeling, “the actual fuck just happened?”

“I believe, Sir,” JARVIS pipes up from the phone in his pocket, an unnecessary amount of what sounds like glee in his voice, “that you’ve once again managed to maintain your closely guarded secret identity. Truly your subterfuge skills know no bounds."

“You’re an asshole J,” Tony mutters back as he reaches up to rub at his temple. He either has a headache coming on or a blood clot. At this point he’s honestly not sure which he’d prefer.

"I did learn from the best, Sir,” JARVIS tells him sunnily.

Between Heaven and Hell by Moonstalker24 picks up right after the fight in the bunker in Captain America: Civil War is a delight for those of us that are still feeling salty about that whole business. (The pairing is Tony/Pepper, but their relationship is not the main focus of the story.)

Author's summary:

There’s a sort of poetry to the pain that lances through him. A sort of slow burn that is usually associated with strong alcohol and certain types of recreational narcotics. It radiates out from his chest. Throbbing through him in pulses every time his lungs expand. He can feel the sharp spines of gold-titanium alloy digging into his flesh. The crackle-shift of broken ribs moving into places they shouldn’t be.

He's going to die this time. He can feel his extremities getting colder, heavier. Knows that the armor is only slowing the blood loss, not stopping it.

Tony Stark is left to die in a bunker in Siberia. His family doesn't like that at all. As they rally around him, so does the rest of the world, forcing the Rogue Avengers to face the consequences of their actions.

The War Is Far from Over Now by Dont_call_me_Carrie is an awesome AU that takes a sharp turn right after Iron Man3, and the results are just glorious.

Author's summary: The world keeps pushing him, demanding, because what he did wasn't enough. Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, but that wasn't enough, wasn't ever enough. Tony Stark was tired. But he had a planet to protect, even if everyone laughed at him whenever the prospect of alien invasions was brought up. He could count on one hand how many people he could trust, which was disheartening but then, what else was new?

Or,

In which Tony does not, in fact, intend to take over the world.
...unfortunately, everyone else missed that particular memo.

[gradual divergence from canon, starting at the end of Iron Man 3. In which it's Tony's self-awareness, rather than his support system, that becomes a cryptid sometime during Phase II.]

Unleash Your Demons by Keira Marcos is an amazing Avengers story that goes AU after Infinity War (and it's a much better resolutions than Endgame... *shudder*).

Here is the author's summary: Tony Stark can't live with the damage Thanos has done.
Infinity Stones in hand, he makes a choice that will alter the fate of
the universe.

Imperfect

Imperfect by Jilly James is a Sentinel fusion with NCIS and Criminal Minds (Tony DiNozzo/Derek Morgan). I will admit I still have bad feelings toward NCIS and the way TPTB handled Tony's relationship with the team, so this story was very cathartic. Here is the author's summary: After rescuing Ziva from Somalia, Tony comes online as a powerful guide. The Center says he has a perfect match, the ideal sentinel, waiting for him. But his sentinel isn’t interested. As Tony finds his way into a new future, he finds that something imperfect can be what he actually needs.

Illuminate Me by Half_SubmergedinPurgatory is yet another post-Civil War story that is most definitely Team Stark and ends in WinterIron. It came out before Infinity War, so goes AU after Civil War. The author's vision of how the battle against Thanos would go is well-though out and executed. This is also a story about recovery and healing. Here is the author's summary: Tony isn't a healthy man. He's fine with that, really. It makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, he has a job to do that kind of has his health as a major requirement. So he unmakes himself, remakes the Accords, protects every single child super that enters his field of view, and hopes ferociously that the Avengers never come back to the US. He doesn't spend any time at all rebuilding Bucky Barnes' life. Not a single second. Anything he does that contributes to him is simply an accident.

Does It Hurt? by squireofgeekdom is an awesome Avengers story. It's what I wish Civil War had been. Summary: Steve doesn't find Bucky after the bomb. Bucky finds Tony. They have a conversation. Then things get complicated.

I'm still bitter about Civil War, so Team Iron Man fics are still something I'm really enjoying. Wake Up, Princess by Picasso25 is very gratifying. Here is the author's summary: A possible aftermath of Civil War, mostly Tony centric, where people realize he may not have been a villain all this time. (Or what could happen if MCU writers had smelled the coffee and woken up...)

I know, I know, I should be over this by now, but I still want to punch MCU Steve Rogers in the face...

Aftermath of a Civil War by shadowlancer_95 is a post-Civil War Avengers series that shows us different character interactions that occur after the movie ends. I thought the author did a good job of showing the emotional toll the events of the Civil War had on various characters. This is definitely Team Stark, so if you're a Cap fan, it might not be your cup of tea. I've been angry at Cap since the movie, so I found it very satisfying.

Loaded March series by [personal profile] footloose is an awesome work of art (Arthur/Merlin). The story is epic, and yet the emotions and actions of the characters are very much on a personal level. Even before the author finished the series, I had reread it several times--sometimes immediately after I'd finished. If you love Arthur/Merlin, then this story is for you. Here is the author's summary:

Captain Arthur Pendragon has put together the best team of specialists that the SAS has ever seen, but when his superiors assign Lieutenant Merlin Emrys as his communications officer, Arthur does everything to make him feel unwelcome. Arthur's job is to protect and guide his team through dangerous missions, and he worries that he can't do that when the newest member has a mysterious background and acts suspicious when he thinks no one is looking.

As their assignments become more dangerous, Merlin can't help but to use his magic to keep his team -- even his prat of a Captain -- safe from threats they couldn't possibly understand. But when they are sent on a undercover operation against a group of zealots intent on a magical apocalypse, Merlin needs to confront his fear of discovery and derision, and to finally trust his team with his secret.

Arthur and Merlin rely on each other for more than the sake of their mission. The entire world is at stake. When they learn -- from dragons, no less -- that they are prophesied to restore the balance of magic to the world, they fight on regardless of the outcome, because duty, honour and loyalty is a far stronger driving force than destiny.

Candle, Cup, and Casket by http://archiveofourown.org/users/Desiderii/pseuds/Desiderii is an amazing Merlin (Merlin/Arthur) space opera that grabs hold of you and just DOES NOT LET GO! I stayed up all night reading, as I was so caught up in the story and characters that sleep was impossible. This epic is awesome in every sense of the word. Here is the author's summary:

In some far distant future, Arthur heir Pendragon, Captain of the galley-class Kilgharrah and Prince of the Camelot, answers a distress call from the alien-besieged Ealdor. There, he finds Merlin, a plausibly-deniable sorcerer with an irresistible grin. This is the story of how the terraformation of planet Albion was threatened by the prejudices of the past, of finding solid ground and taking a stand, and of giving yourself reasons to trust.

A phantasmagorical space opera, high fantasy in a science fiction setting, this work includes cyborg Arthur, fighter-pilot Morgana, spectral dragons, Lovecraftian horrors, sentient spaceships, and a little bit of that kissing stuff.

The Pushing Boundaries series by Macx is exactly what I wanted after seeing the trailer for Jurassic World. The pack bond between Owen Grady and the velociraptors ( especially Blue) is amazing and delightful. Here's the author's summary for the first story (out of two), Tainted:

Owen Grady had always had a talent for animals. Like his grandfather. It was a talent that ran in the families.

Masrani Global recruited him to train raptors. It was an intriguing, novel idea, something only a crazy or insane person would attempt.

Owen wasn't crazy or insane. He knew he could do this.

He just didn't know how deep he would get into it, how strong the connection to the pack would become, how close... they, the four of them, would become to him.

His grandfather had always warned him: don't get too close. Don't let them connect. Well, it was too late for that now.

Fair warning, both stories are epic, and you won't want to stop reading. :-)

Life Sentence by [personal profile] astolat is a Brian/Dom Fast & the Furious AU that just hits all my buttons. (I wasn't even sure I could read F&F vic anymore without crying, but this story took me for a wild and fun ride.) Here's the author's summary:

“Sit down,” the doctor said. He took blood, three vials filling up dark red. “Any medical conditions?”

“No,” Dom said, and then his mouth kept going and said, “What if I want to volunteer for bonding?”

The doctor peered at him over the glasses. “Do you want to volunteer for bonding?”

It hung in the air. Dom felt it like a noose around his throat, squeezing. Twenty-five to life. “Yeah,” he said.

OK, I'm kind of failing at DreamWidth... For communities, there are three options: Join, Subscribe, and Track. Which one of those is the same as "Watch" on LJ? Help would be much appreciated, thanks. :-)
